Our Story

More than twenty years ago, we met in Aptos, California, just west of Highway 1.

A year later, we were married aboard a sailboat in Monterey Bay. Our daughter was born in Santa Cruz County, also West of One. Over time, that stretch of coastline became more than a place to us. It became a feeling — a way of life shaped by freedom, connection, simplicity, and the energy of the coast.

Eventually, our journey led us north to Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, where we planted deeper roots at Keresey Family Vineyard. Since 2012, we’ve farmed these vines by hand — our single clone ‘old vines’ that straddle Mark West Creek, just before it meets the Russian River to head west to the Pacific Ocean — a truly magical place. Here, morning fog gives way to afternoon sunshine, and sandy loam soils help produce beautifully expressive Pinot Noir.

As our connection to the vineyard grew, so did our curiosity. We began making small batches of wine at home, learning every step of the process - from harvest to barrel to bottle. For years, our fruit found its way into some of the Russian River Valley's most acclaimed wines, but we always dreamed of creating something that reflected our own story.

In 2022, that dream became reality.

We joined a local winemaking cooperative and launched the first vintage of WEST of ONE — a wine inspired by two places that shaped us most: the rugged California coast and the quiet rhythm of wine country.

Today, every bottle reflects those roots. Coastal spirit. Vineyard soil. Family, place, and the simple moments that bring people together around the table.
